Buhler Varsity Girls, Boys Squads Both Rally to Beat Augusta

The Buhler varsity girls came from behind to defeat Augusta 36-33 Tuesday night at home.

Then the Buhler Crusader boys put together a rally of their own to pull off a 38-30 victory over the Orioles.

The Crusader girls led 6-2 at the end of the first quarter, but fell behind 15-12 at halftime. Buhler rallied to lead 24-22 at the end of the third quarter and held on with a 12-11 fourth quarter.

Nyah Sewell led the Buhler girls with 9 points (all in the second half). She gave the Crusader girls their first lead of the game on a layup in the third quarter.

Tori Tustain scored 8 points, including 4-of-6 free throws. Ella Voss scored 7 points and had 5 steals.

The Buhler girls (5-5) have a four-game winning streak after starting the season 1-5.

Augusta’s leading scorer was Chloe Wignall with 9 points.

The Buhler varsity boys trailed 7-3 at the end of the first quarter, 14-7 at halftime and 25-21 after three quarters. The Crusaders trailed 18-7 and then went on a 31-12 run to earn the victory.

Jacob Miller led the Crusader boys with 13 points and added 5 rebounds. He scored 12 of his 13 points in the second half.

Asher Zachary scored 10 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Isaiah Heredia contributed 6 points, 4 assists, 4 rebounds and 2 steals.

Augusta was led in scoring by Kaden McDaniel with 8 points and he dished off 3 assists. Brecken Albert scored 7 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, blocked 2 shots and had 5 steals.

Brody Chappell scored 6 points for Augusta. Brice Martin grabbed 6 rebounds.

The Buhler boys and girls host Clearwater Friday night.
