The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for all of southeast and east central Kansas from 6 AM to 6 PM Sunday. Advisories also cover much of central and northeast Kansas.
Northwest winds during the day Sunday will be sustained at 25 to 35 miles an hour with gusts expected up to 50 miles an hour. These winds will blow around unsecured objects, and could cause tree limbs and power lines to be downed. This will make for difficult driving conditions, especially for high profile vehicles.
There may be some very light precipitation during the morning hours of Sunday, which will be very minimal and fall in the form of rain.
Winds will diminish slightly Sunday evening, which will also produce wind chills into the single digits Sunday night into the day Monday, with winds continuing to gust to near 35 miles an hour into mid-afternoon before diminishing Monday evening.
Temperatures are expected to moderate some Tuesday, with daytime highs through Saturday into the upper 40’s to around 50, closer to normal for this time of the year than we have been seeing over the past week. Beyond anything we see Sunday, the current long range forecasts call for no precipitation chances in this area for at least the next couple of weeks.
