Andale’s Sam Harp scores five times, rushes for 300 yards in rout over Wellington

ANDALE, Kan. — Through the first two minutes between Andale and Wellington on Friday, fans thought both teams would exchange touchdowns left and right.

After an 8-all tie, the Indians rattled off 61 consecutive points and never looked back in a 70-22 victory over the Crusaders.

Sam Harp gave Andale an 8-0 lead with a 13-yard run. Wellington responded with a 12-yard touchdown run by Jalik Armstrong, tying the game at 8 with 10:09 left in the first quarter. Two plays later, Jack Horsch gave Andale the lead it didn’t relinquish with a 72-yard touchdown run. Harp tallied two more rushing touchdowns of 89 and 64 in the opening quarter, sandwiched with a 4-yard touchdown run by Sam Kuepker and a 42-yard interception return by Hunter Grimes.

Harp added his final two scores early in the second quarter of five and 74. Andale also got a 4-yard touchdown by Jrayton Dansel. Armstrong ended Andale’s run of scoring with a 4-yard touchdown late in the second quarter.

The second half was contested with a running clock. Andale got its final score in the fourth quarter with Brayden Spexarth finding Drayton King for a 4-yard touchdown. Andale accumulated 571 yards of total offense, 567 on the ground, with Harp leading the way with 300 yards on 11 carries and five scores.

Andale (2-0, 2-0 AVCTL-IV) begins a 3-game road swing at Rose Hill next Friday. Rose Hill fell to Collegiate on Friday, 21-10. The Midway Motors Drive to the Game begins at 6:30 p.m. on Ad Astra Radio, the Ad Astra Radio App, and Ad Astra TV.
