HUTCHINSON, Kan. (September 4, 2025) – The Kansas State Fair Board met this afternoon for their orientation meeting to finalize preparations for the Kansas State Fair. One of the key points throughout the meeting was security for the fair. Lieutenant Dave Golden of the Kansas Highway Patrol briefed board members on the security measures that will be in place this year, including drones, K9 teams, and additional cameras. In addition, all KHP troopers will have body cameras in order to have a better picture of any potential incidents. Lt. Golden underlined the benefits of the great working relationship between the KHP and the Fair Board, citing a new zoning technique for faster dispatching and response times.
Bryan Schulz, General Manager of the Kansas State Fair, emphasized Lt. Golden’s message of safety with the phrase, “See Something, Say Something”. That message will be posted throughout the fair grounds year round, and the board encourages you to help keep the fair safe and let someone know if you see anything amiss. Schulz also touched on the weather forecast, noting that the forecast looks good, with (hopefully) the only rainy day on Friday. Should any weather pop up, the PA system throughout the fairgrounds has been updated with weather and security alerts in both English and Spanish.
The Board is looking forward to a great fair! The Kansas State Fair Opening Ceremony will be Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. at People’s Bank and Trust Arena.
