SOUTH CENTRAL Kan. – The Kansas Department of Transportation has begun a crack sealing project along K-42 from the U.S. 281 junction in Pratt County east to the K-14 junction in Kingman County, including the full stretch through Barber County.

K-42 will be reduced to one lane in smaller sections as work takes place on the 38-mile project area. Motorists should expect minor delays as flaggers and pilot car guide traffic in the active work zone. Crack sealing work will be done Monday through Friday and is expected to extend the life of the existing pavement.

Pavement Pros LLC, of McPherson, has the contracts, which total $235,160.

The intent is to finish the repair by the end of November, conditions permitting.
