AUGUSTA, Kan. – The Great Bend Bat Cats traveled to Augusta for a road doubleheader against the Kansas Cannons, winning game one 4-2 but losing game two 10-2.

The doubleheader consisted of two seven-inning games. The Bat Cats were out-hit in game one, but had three extra base hits and stellar pitching. After three scoreless innings, the Bat Cats got on the board in the top of the 4th inning with a Kyle Walker RBI single, then scoring on a passed ball later in the inning.

The Cannons bounced back in the bottom half of the frame, tying the game after having four hits in the inning. A scoreless 5th and 6th kept the game tied at 2-2, but the Bat Cats took the lead in the 7th inning in exciting fashion with a two-run home run from Tony Moore. Tyler Stuhlsatz kept the lead in the 7th inning to give Great Bend the 4-2 win. Tyler Clementz had a strong day on the hill with 10 strikeouts in six innings.

Game two was a different story as the Bat Cats fell 10-2 in their final matchup against the Cannons in the 2025 season. This time around, the Bat Cats struck out 10 times and the bats were hot for the Cannons as they had eight hits and walked six times.

The Bat Cats are 18-14 on the season and have two games remaining in the season. They will be on the road against the Kingman Islanders Thurs., July 17 at 7 p.m.
