Bat Cats Shut out, Run-Ruled by Brigade

GREAT BEND, Kan. – The Great Bend Bat Cats were shut out in run-rule fashion Sunday, July 6, falling to the Junction City Brigade 13-0 in seven innings.

The Bat Cats struggled offensively with only four hits and two walks. TJ Shaw Jr. had two hits to lead Great Bend, one of which being a double. Andrugh Yee and Luke Nohinek had the other two knocks.

The Brigade finished with 13 hits, six of which being doubles. Four Junction City players had multi-hit performances.

The game was scoreless in the first two innings before the Brigade put up four runs in the 3rd and two in the 4th. A six-run 6th inning helped them pull away from Great Bend, helping the game end in seven innings via the run rule.

Tyler Clementz got the loss for Great Bend, throwing five full innings allowing six hits, six runs, and five strikeouts.

Great Bend has now lost three game in a row and are now 14-10 on the season. They’ll head to Junction City to face the Brigade Mon., July 7 at 7 p.m.
