IOLA, Kan. – The KC Iola Hormigas faced the Blackwell Flycatchers in Iola Monday, June 16, but fell 13-8 despite trying to come back from a lengthy deficit.
Blackwell started string, scoring nine of their 13 runs in the first four innings alone while also scoring in eight of the nine innings in the game. 12 hits and 12 walks were the downfall of the Hormigas’ pitching staff. The team put up four runs in the 8th, but were unable to cut it further.
Despite the loss, the offense held on with 10 hits. Reed Carter finished 2-3 with a home run and 4 RBI. Miguel Tejada and Nicholas Chaves had multi-hit days as well.
The team is 2-12 on the season and sit in 5th in the Pecos League Mountain North standings. Weather permitting, they are scheduled to face the Flycatchers again Tuesday, June 17 at 6 p.m. at Allen Community College in Iola.
