LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Lady Warriors recorded yet another sweep last Saturday, April 11 with a 7-0 victory over Avila University.
Sterling secured the doubles point with wins in the No. 2 & No. 3 doubles matches won by Cylie LaTourell and Danna Arroyo in the No. 2 position and Elysa Apen and Jessica Gautreau in the No. 3 position. Hannah Giordanelli and Greta Fankhauser battled in No. 1 doubles play but came up short, 6-3, to Emma Koenigseder and Danielle Jean-Louis.
The Lady Warriors kept rolling in singles play with Arroyo defeating Jean-Louis 6-1, 6-0 in No. 1 singles play. In the No. 2 singles match Giordanelli defeated Koenigseder 6-1, 7-5 and Fankhauser finished out match play with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Alaeyah Chleborad in the No. 3 singles match. LaTourell, Gautreau and Apen all secured forfeit victories in the No. 4, 5 and 6 matches to finish off the 7-0 sweep of the Eagles.
