Volleyball Rounds Out Homecoming with Win over Ottawa

McPherson, Kansas – McPherson College Volleyball continued their strong start to KCAC play on Saturday evening, sweeping Ottawa University 3-0 in the Holman Fieldhouse.

How it Happened

The Bulldogs wasted little time taking control of the match, opening the first set with a dominant 25-6 victory. McPherson recorded 12 kills while holding Ottawa to just two kills and a -.321 hitting percentage in the opening set. McPherson continued its offensive success in the second set, hitting .387 with 14 kills to take the set 25-12 and move within one set of the sweep.

The Bulldogs closed out the match in the third set, recording 19 kills while hitting .271. Ottawa battled back late in the set, but McPherson finished off the sweep with a 25-20 victory.

Lily Gray led the Bulldogs offensively with 12 kills, while Enya Fierens added nine kills and four total blocks. Miriam Maino finished with seven kills while hitting .467 on the night. Tabor Scanlon paced the McPherson offense with 27 assists, while Roxana Varela Parra added 14 assists. Isabella Calle led the Bulldogs defensively with 18 digs, followed by Tori Buss with 11 and Adelynne Strecker with nine.

As a team, McPherson hit .343 for the match and finished with advantages in kills (45-24), assists (45-23), blocks (10-5) and digs (59-39).
