AUGUSTA, Kan. – The McPherson High School volleyball team had another triangular in the AVCTL on Tuesday. The Bullpups came away with straight set wins over Augusta and Collegiate.
McPherson came out red hot against Augusta, taking the first set 25-6 before cooling down a bit and taking set two 25-21. In the second match, they cruised to a 25-10, 25-12 win over Collegiate.
Rylie Whitfield did an outstanding job of setting up the offense again with 42 assists combined over the two matches. Piper Solofra led the offensive attack again with 15 kills, with Harper Rierson right behind her with 14 and Carmin Pavlovich adding 11. Pavlovich led the team with four service aces followed by Rierson and Solofra with three each. Solofra also had three blocks on defense. Pavlovich had a team-high 12 digs, followed by Elles Pavlovich with 10.
McPherson is now 20-8 overall and 7-1 against AVCTL Division III competition. They return home Saturday to host the McPherson Invite starting at 8:00 a.m.
