Lindsborg, Kan. – The Bethany College Swedes Baseball team returned to the field Tuesday afternoon for a home matchup against Sterling College, showing fight throughout the game and getting several strong individual performances at the plate.
Bethany collected six hits and scored three runs, with production coming from key spots in the lineup. Jack Crain led the offense with a 2-for-3 performance and an RBI, while Jesuel Cruz also recorded two hits in a solid day at the plate.
Fernando Bones continued his strong season by reaching base twice, scoring two runs, and adding a double. Eduardo Tarafa chipped in a hit and a run scored, helping spark the Swedes offense late in the game.
The Swedes broke through in the sixth inning with two runs before adding another in the eighth. Stephen Kent added an RBI, while Bethany continued to pressure offensively down the stretch.
On the mound, Jan Maldonado-Cruz provided a steady relief outing, tossing 3.0 innings and allowing just one run while helping slow the opposition over the final innings. Wesly Martinez also logged 3.1 innings with two strikeouts in relief.
Bethany once again showed resilience and continued to compete through all nine innings as the team prepares for another important conference weekend.
