How it Happened
The majority of the match was a defensive battle, with neither team being able to find the back of the net despite some good looks. It wouldn’t be until the final five minutes that the Bulldogs were finally able to break through the Thresher defense and score. In the 86th minute, Nathan Van Wyck put a shot on frame that was saved by the Bethel goalie, but the ball would be deflected right to the feet of Elliot Powrie who would put the ball in the bottom right corner for the game-winner.
Alvaro Marchal put up a clean sheet in goal with six saves for the Bulldogs, with several impressive saves to keep the shutout alive. The Thresher goalie also had an impressive showing on the other end of the field with nine saves, despite the eventual loss.
