HESSTON, Kan. – Hesston College Athletic Director Andrew Sharp announced the hiring of Trinton Nobles to be the college’s next golf head coach.
“I am really excited to start my coaching career at Hesston College,” said Nobles. “I have always been in a small private Christian school environment so when the position at Hesston opened, it just felt right.”
Nobles comes to Hesston from Friends University (Wichita, Kan.) where he was a three-time National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics All-American, two-time PING All-American and three-time Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year for the Falcons. The McKinney, Texas native collected six individual championships and 12 top-three finishes in his collegiate career while helping Friends to four straight KCAC team championships.
“We are thrilled to welcome Coach Nobles to campus in this important role,” said Sharp. “Trinton has had excellent coaching in his career, and will enjoy good support here as he takes on this challenge. Hesston College Golf is in a good position, and we look forward to seeing Trinton’s impact on the program.”
Nobles also found significant academic success during his time at Friends as he was named a College Sports Communicators Academic All-American twice and was a two-time NAIA Scholar Athlete. He took on a strong leadership role in his final two seasons at Friends, helping coach the B squad at a few tournaments and in practices.
“I learned so much from my coaches at Friends about how to build a winning culture, and I hope to bring that culture to Hesston,” explained Nobles. “My focus will be on building culture and improving the mental game of the players. I have learned that these are the most important things to learn on the golf course, and that they can help you in day-to-day life as well.”
Outside of his playing experience, Nobles has caddied for PGA tournaments where he gained valuable knowledge in course management, shot planning and club selection. He also interned for the Korn Ferry Tour where he learned about tournament operations and management.
“I am really excited for the chance to help the players become the best versions of themselves on and off the golf course,” said Nobles.
