Lindsborg, Kan. – The Bethany College Swedes Football team played host to the No. 9 Friends University Falcons as both teams opened their seasons this weekend.
The Swedes started off hot forcing a three-and-out on the first drive of the game. Following a short punt, Kane Foreman connected with Lael Eddens for a 38-yard touchdown to put Bethany up 7-0. The ensuing drive resulted in a forced fumble by Kamorion Carter that was picked up by Jeiki Williams on the Falcon’s 16-yard line.
Unfortunately, the momentum would not last long as the Falcons would scoop-n-score on a backwards pass and cut the deficit to one following a blocked extra point attempt. Afterwards, the Falcons would outscore the Swedes 79-3 over the rest of the contest.
Kane Foreman had a game-high 87 yards and a touchdown. Kendrick Hawkins led the Swedes with 48 yards on the ground while Lael Eddens tallied four catches for 40 yards and a touchdown.
Antione Reese III led the charge on defense with 12 total tackles. Kamorion Carter racked up three tackles for loss and a forced fumble.
As a team, the Swedes struggled to hold onto the ball giving up seven turnovers while tallying just 125 total yards.

The Swedes have a big week ahead of them as their rivals from up north, the Kansas Wesleyan University Coyotes, are next on the agenda. Kickoff is set for 6:00 PM on Saturday, September 5. The Coyotes are coming off a 33-13 opening weekend loss to Ottawa University.
