McPherson Center for Health welcomed 111 women to the McPherson Opera House on Saturday, August 29, for The M Factor 2, an evening focused on women’s health, menopause, education, and conversation.

While most attendees were from McPherson, women traveled from 15 communities across Kansas to attend, reflecting continued interest in education and resources related to women’s health.

The evening centered around a screening of The M Factor 2, a documentary exploring perimenopause and women’s health. Following the film, attendees had the opportunity to continue the conversation during a panel discussion featuring three McPherson Center for Health healthcare professionals.

Panelists included Sarah Buchanan, MD, OB/GYN and Certified Menopause Society Practitioner; Melisa Kieffer, PA and Menopause Society Member; and Suzanne Fleming, MS, RDN, LD, Registered Dietitian.

Together, the panelists discussed menopause, nutrition and overall health and answered questions from attendees about symptoms, treatment options, and resources available to women as they navigate perimenopause and menopause.

“The response to both The M Factor and The M Factor 2 shows us that women are looking for opportunities to learn more about their health and have open conversations about menopause,” said Carol Fickes, Chief of Provider and Clinic Operations at McPherson Center for Health.   “We want women to know there are resources and providers available to help them through this stage of life.”

The August event followed the original The M Factor event and continued McPherson Center for Health’s efforts to provide education and encourage conversations about women’s health. Additional educational opportunities are already being discussed based on the interest and response to the two events.
