McPHERSON, Kan. — U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) stopped by McPherson Center for Health on Friday, Oct. 23 for a tour of the facility and met with leaders of the hospital to discuss the importance of preserving access to high-quality healthcare in rural communities.
Joining Senator Moran during the visit were Kansas Representative Rick Wilborn, McPherson College President Michael Schneider, McPherson Center for Health leaders including Chief Executive Officer Tanner Wealand, Chief Nursing Officer Dara Reese, and Chief Financial Officer Anthony Hearn.
“We’re always happy to have Senator Moran, and our other legislators come through the building,” said Wealand. “Senator Moran’s a major supporter of rural healthcare, so we appreciate the things he’s done to help our hospital.”
Wealand added that Senator Moran is always a proponent for the hospital and helps them with legislative issues affecting reimbursement.
During the tour, Senator Moran and hospital leaders discussed challenges facing rural healthcare providers and the importance of ensuring local communities continue to have access to healthcare services close to home.
“We appreciate Senator Moran’s continued support of rural hospitals and his willingness to listen to the issues affecting providers across Kansas,” Wealand said. “His efforts help rural hospitals continue delivering quality care to the communities they serve.”
