McPherson public schools will be closed today to remember Cole – and help a McPherson family begin to heal as many students and staff members will be attending the funeral of 6-year-old Cole Adrian, who died in the tragic crash at the Stryker Sports Complex, along with 35-year-old Nicholas Schafer of McPherson on October, 17th.
The Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office has not filed charges against the driver and continues to gather evidence in the case.
A number of McPherson businesses and organizations have been fundraising to help the families affected by the incident.
A McPherson gun store is holding a raffle to help support the family of Nicholas Schafer as well.
The Treasure Chest gun shop has donated a .22 rifle or $250 in store credit as the prize for a raffle that will be held in November. A $20 donation for 2 tickets will help support the the Schafer family as they navigate the loss of a husband and father.
