The McPherson County Community Foundation (MCCF), along with its affiliate foundations in Inman and Moundridge, will host its annual matching event from Oct. 10 through Nov. 10. This year, the event has been revamped and renamed Match Month, expanding the opportunity to support more than 90 participating funds across five McPherson County communities.
Together, the participating communities will have access to $450,000 in matching funds, giving donors an opportunity to increase the impact of gifts made to qualifying organizational and program endowments.
Match Month is designed to encourage donors to invest in the long-term future of local nonprofits. Gifts made to participating endowments will be matched according to the guidelines and available funds for each community. Organizations will then be able to use the matching dollars to support their programs and operations.
“Our matching events have had a tremendous impact over the years; providing support to the community organizations and programs our donors care about,” said Jim Ostlund, MCCF director of development. “Match Month expands that opportunity and gives donors the opportunity to invest in the dreams of their community.”
Matching funds come from several sources, including multiple opportunities provided by the Patterson Family Foundation, a gift from the Gaeddert Family Fund, support from the David J. Nutt Fund and contributions from anonymous donors.
Each matching opportunity is designated for organizations operating within specific communities.
Matching opportunities:
- Lindsborg: $25,000 in matching funds available for qualifying Lindsborg organizations.
- Galva: $25,000 in matching funds available for the Galva Community Fund.
- Inman: $100,000 in matching funds available through the Inman Community Foundation.
- Moundridge: $100,000 in matching funds available through the Moundridge Community Foundation.
- Countywide: $200,000 available for eligible organizations.
Gifts will be matched at 50 cents for every $1 donated or proportionally based on the specific matching opportunity and the availability of matching funds.
“Supporting the endowments of our local nonprofits is an investment in the future of McPherson County,” Ostlund said. “These funds will continue supporting the programs and organizations people care about, both today, and for generations to come.”
