COLBY, Kan. – After leading their teams to unbeaten weeks last week, Garden City Community College forward Moses Bernard and Barton Community College goalkeeper Pedro Lisboa have each been named Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Division 1 Men’s Soccer Players of the Week.
Moses Bernard (Garden City) – KJCCC D1 Men’s Soccer Player of the Week
Bernard helped lead Garden City to an unbeaten week last week against NJCAA Region 9 foes, defeating Trinidad State 6-0 before earning a 4-4 draw against number nine-ranked Otero College. In the opening against Trinidad State, Bernard found the back of the net two minutes into the second half, turning a 1-0 Garden City lead into a 2-0 lead that grew decisively throughout the second half. Three days later against the Rattlers, Bernard scored a first-half equalizer after the Broncbusters fell behind 20 minutes into the contest and added a 58th-minute goal to put GCCC up 3-1 before settling for a tie after a late flurry of goals from Otero.
Pedro Lisboa (Barton) – KJCCC D1 Men’s Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week
Reigning KJCCC Goalkeeper of the Week Pedro Lisboa continued his strong start to the season, turning in a five-save shutout in number seven Barton’s 1-0 victory over Western Nebraska. The sophomore netminder turned aside all five shots on frame, including a pair of late stops in the 77th and 89th minutes to preserve the win. Lisboa secured his second shutout through three matches while improving to 3-0-0 on the season.
