The Allen Community College men’s cross country team, ranked No. 19 in the NJCAA Division II, competed at the Missouri Southern Stampede against a highly competitive field featuring several nationally ranked NCAA Division II and NAIA programs. The Red Devils finished 16th overall and defeated all four other schools from their region competing at the meet, including No. 9-ranked Cowley College.
All six Allen men made their collegiate debut in the 8K, led by Damian Spurrier, who finished in 26:09.8. Dominick Schnider followed closely behind with a time of 26:10.5. Erick Ramirez, who has been managing injuries, crossed the finish line in 27:51.8. Darryl Johnson, Kasey Hamrick, and Michael Gonzales rounded out the Red Devils’ lineup, finishing in 28:33.8, 28:55.0, and 29:20.1, respectively.
On the women’s side, freshman MaHailie Genoble put together an impressive performance in the 5K, recording a lifetime personal best of 20:58.8. Genoble improved her previous high school senior-year best by 23 seconds.
The Red Devils will return to action Saturday, October 3, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, for the Chili Pepper Festival
