The Oswego Indians opened the season with a 56-32 upset of three-time defending Three Rivers League champion Marmaton Valley on Friday.
Oswego took control early, building a 21-8 first-quarter lead and relying on a dominant rushing attack that produced 542 yards. Junior quarterback Dimitri Williamson rushed for 266 yards and three touchdowns, while senior running back Chance Mills added 148 yards and four scores.
Marmaton Valley was led by senior Cooper Scharff, who rushed for 145 yards and three touchdowns while adding 96 receiving yards and another score. Junior quarterback Kaden McVey completed 14 of 23 passes for 181 yards and two touchdowns in his first start, with Ethan Lawson adding three catches for 49 yards and a touchdown.
Marmaton Valley travels to Yates Center next Friday for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
