Iola High Athletes Roundup: Achievements This Week in Volleyball, Cross Country and Golf

IOLA — Three volleyball players reached career milestones, Keegan Hill won the varsity boys cross country race at Eureka, and Brooklyn Holloway earned a league golf medal among recent highlights for Iola High School athletics.

The Mustang volleyball team split its matches Tuesday at Wellsville, defeating Osawatomie and falling to Wellsville. Dally Curry reached 500 career kills, Addi Wacker recorded her 500th career assist and Haidyn Desmarteau reached 500 career digs.

In girls golf, Brooklyn Holloway placed ninth at the Pioneer League Tournament on Tuesday to earn an individual medal.

At Tuesday’s cross country meet in Eureka, Keegan Hill led the Iola varsity boys with a first-place finishing time of 17:58.38. Ruger Boren placed fifth, Adam Klubek eighth, Joshua Wanker 14th and Caden Coltrane 15th. The Mustangs finished first in the team standings, ahead of Erie and Burlington.

Mariah Mathis finished second in the varsity girls race with a time of 22:43.56.
