Two pedestrians were injured Tuesday morning after being struck by a vehicle in Ottawa.
According to the Ottawa Police Department, officers, along with the Ottawa Fire Department and Franklin County EMS, were dispatched around 7:19 a.m. to the area of 11th Street and Cypress Street following a report of pedestrians being struck. When officers arrived, they found two injured pedestrians and an injured canine. The vehicle and its 16-year-old driver remained at the scene.
The pedestrians were identified as a 45-year-old Ottawa woman and her 11-year-old daughter. Both were transported to area hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The canine was taken to a local veterinary office, where it later died. Police said the juvenile was released from a local hospital.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Crash Team was requested to assist with the scene investigation. Ottawa police officers and detectives continue to investigate the incident.
Police are reminding drivers and pedestrians to use caution, particularly in areas near schools and school bus routes.
