The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a scam involving callers and text messages claiming people have warrants or legal papers that need to be served.
The sheriff’s office says deputies will not call or text residents to notify them that papers need to be served. Instead, deputies will attempt to deliver warrants, summonses or other legal documents in person.
Anyone who receives a suspicious call or is unsure whether they have papers to be served can contact the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office at 785-448-5428 and speak with a deputy to verify the information.
