Each month, Ad Astra Radio recognizes a boys and girls Team of the Month, selected from area high schools. The 2026 Boys Team of the Month for September goes to the Elyria Christian School Football team.
The month: Elyria Christian debuted varsity football this fall, and coach Zach Goodrich has been impressed with the team’s growth and improvement since the summer. What’s more, Goodrich said the Elyria Christian community has taken to Friday night lights. “The activity has been a great addition to our school, and has given our male students an opportunity to compete in the fall. One of the best highlights has been the community atmosphere it has created for our school, with many of our alumni, school families, and students supporting the young men competing each week. The Eagles suffered an overtime loss to Chetopa in the second game, sandwiched around two losses to state-ranked Peabody Burns. Then, on Sept. 25, the Eagles beat Moscow 54-46 for the first-ever win.
