The Hutchinson High girls swim team finished as AVCTL Division 1 runner-up on Saturday, finishing with 296.5 points. That edged Maize by 2.5 points, as the Salthawks used a fifth-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay to hold off Maize.
Sophomore Alayna Wiggins and senior AJ Gooch each won one event. Wiggins won the 100 backstroke in a time of 1 minute, 5.6 seconds, while Gooch won the 100 breaststroke (1:13.71).
Gooch also took second in the 200 freestyle, and Gooch, Wiggins, Morgan Most and Julianna Stivers were second in the 200 medley relay.
