Hutchinson High’s Cristian Medina finished in 10th place at Saturday’s Class 5A cross country substate at Lake Barton Golf Course in Great Bend, qualifying for the state meet.
Medina finished the race in 17 minutes, 32.47 seconds. Medina just nudged past Andover Central’s Josh Thomison by 0.12 seconds to earn his top-10 finish.
Medina was the only Salthawk to qualify for the state meet, which will be Saturday at Rim Rock Farm just outside Lawrence.
