Sophomore Quarterback Brandon Franklin ran for two touchdowns and threw for another touchdown, while Junior Running Back Sam Torres rushed for two touchdowns as the Macksville Mustangs utilized a balanced attack to defeat the St. John Tigers 52-6 in Macksville’s home opener.
St. John’s lone touchdown came on a long kickoff return of 70 yards as Senior Jericho Mawhirter somehow stayed in bounds tiptoeing along the sideline for the Tiger score.
Macksville led 30-6 at halftime and then pulled away in the second half as the Mustangs came up with the win that ended with the Mercy Rule early in the 4th Quarter.
