Little River High School head volleyball coach Kim Rolfs earned career victories 500 and 501 on Saturday at the Centre Tournament,.
Little River posted a 5-0 record to win the Centre Invitational Tournament Saturday in Lost Springs. Rolfs got her 500th win the semifinals and her 501st win in the championship, said Little River athletic director Shaun Craft.
Rolfs is 10 matches into her 10th season at Little River with a 292-84 record at the school and an overall head coaching record of 501-163 in 20 seasons.
The defending state champions have an 8-2 overall record in 2026 and are ranked No. 1 in Kansas Class 1A Division I. Rolfs’ assistant coaches are Jennifer Mantz and Grace Hendrickson.
Rolfs has led teams to five state championships. In 2015, she won a Kansas Class 2A state title at Central Plains High School as the Oilers posted a 43-0 record. During her two seasons at Central Plains (2015 and 2016), Rolfs posted an 83-3 record.
In Little River’s four consecutive Class 1A Division I state titles with Rolfs at the helm, the Redskins defeated Flinthills in 2022, Montezuma-South Gray in 2023 and Centralia in both 2024 and 2025. The Redskins won their first state championship in 1984.
Rolfs also coached briefly at Pratt High School both as a head coach and an assistant coach.
Kim Strong Rolfs, an Abilene High School and Bethany College graduate, was hired to coach volleyball right out of college by Quivira Heights High School in 1996. Quivira Heights consolidated with Claflin to form Central Plains High School in 2010.
Rolfs’ husband Trevor, a Quivira Heights, Barton Community College and Bethany College graduate, has been the athletic director at Barton Community College since 2011. He played basketball at Barton CC from 1991-93.
He also coached at Lyons and Mankato high schools and was the basketball coach at Pratt Community College for seven seasons from 2004-2011.
