CHARLOTTE, NC – After leading the Johnson County and Hutchinson Community College women’s soccer teams to unbeaten weeks, Cavalier freshman goalkeeper Josie Klausmeyer and Blue Dragon sophomore forward Isabell Van Fleet have each earned their first National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Women’s Soccer National Player of the Week honors of their careers.
Klausmeyer and Van Fleet are the sixth and seventh KJCCC women’s soccer athletes to earn National Player of the Week honors in 2026, becoming the 79th and 80th women’s soccer players from the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) since 2017 to be honored with NJCAA National Athlete of the Week honors. Of the 80 honorees, 10 have come from Johnson County and 12 from Hutchinson. The last Johnson County player to earn NJCAA National Athlete of the Week honors was Flo Rigby during week three of the 2026 season (September 14-20, 2026), while Van Fleet is the first Blue Dragon to earn the honor since Evie Carvell during week one of the 2025 season (August 26 – September 2, 2025).
Josie Klausmeyer (Johnson County) – NJCAA D2 Women’s Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week
Facing a top three NJCAA Division 1 foe to start the week, Klausmeyer held strong despite facing constant pressure and recorded nine saves to help secure a scoreless draw. Klausmeyer closed out the week with a 6-0 shutout over St. Louis, stopping three shots on goal.
Isabell Van Fleet (Hutchinson) – NJCAA D1 Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Blue Dragon forward Isabell Van Fleet continued her recent scoring tear with a seven-point week in victories over Dodge City and Garden City. Van Fleet had a goal and an assist in a key 2-0 win over Dodge City. The sophomore then had two goals, including the game-winning goal, in a 5-0 HCC win at Garden City. Van Fleet has scored four goals in her last three games dating back to last week, with 10 points over that span. For the season, Van Fleet now has four goals and three assists.
