The Hutchinson Trinity Catholic High School boys track team captured first at the Conrad Nightingale Invitational Friday night at Halstead High School.
Halstead recognized its seniors on Senior Night.
The Trinity boys scored 112 points for first place out of 15 schools competing.
Cheney placed second with 86 points, followed by Hesston 71, Pratt 59, Berean Academy 53, Moundridge 51, Hoisington 45, Smoky Valley 30, Kingman 23, Sedgwick 21, Marion 17, Haven 16, Halstead 15, Hillsboro 11 and Conway Springs 1.
The Hesston girls captured first place with 96 points, followed by Cheney 80, Smoky Valley 66, Berean Academy 62, Moundridge 53, Conway Springs 44, Marion 41, Halstead 38, Hoisington 37, Pratt 37, Hillsboro 33.5, Kingman 10.5, Hutchinson Trinity Catholic 8, Haven 4, Douglass 1 and The Independent School-Wichita 1.
Moundridge’s Heath Churchill, Hutchinson Trinity’s Isaac Hammersmith and Berean Academy’s Ryley Buesenitz all cleared 6 feet, 8 inches, to place first, second and third in the boys high jump. Churchill placed first because he cleared the bar with fewer attempts.
Hammersmith placed second in the boys triple jump (44-1.5) and third in the long jump (20-7.75).
Hutchinson Trinity won the boys 4×800-meter relay with a time of 8 minutes, 28.36 seconds. Also placing first for the Celtics were Kaid McElgunn, 100-meter dash (10.64 seconds); McElgunn, 200 (22.06); John Lindstrom, 1600 (4:38.82); Jacob Lindstrom, 3200 (10:00.62); Cameron Kiser, 800 (2:05.28).
John Lindstrom placed third in the boys 800 (2:08.57). The Celtics placed third in the boys 4×400 relay (3:30.2) and fourth in the 4×100 relay (43.58). Alex Guajardo and Roberto Guerrero placed fourth and sixth in the boys 400 (51.77 and 52.48).
Ian Rios was fifth in the 110 hurdles (16.52) and Beau Towell was fifth in the javelin (144-10).
Hutchinson Trinity’s Eilley Cost placed second in the girls discus with a throw of 121 feet, 1 inch.
