Cole Brawner emerged as one of the top underclassmen in Class 2A last season after a breakout campaign that earned him First Team Sports in Kansas All-State and First Team Sports in Kansas Non-Senior honors on offense.
The 5-foot-11, 175-pound running back rushed for 1,586 yards and 23 touchdowns while helping Haven to a 7-3 record and a playoff victory over Kingman.
Brawner also made his presence felt on defense, finishing with 40 tackles and four interceptions.
Brawner is motivated to help Haven take the next step after consecutive playoff exits.
“I’m excited for our challenging schedule this year and to go against bigger teams than what we have,” Brawner said. “We’ve had a fire lit since the end of last season to build on and keep adding to.
Us juniors and seniors have had these past two seasons end short in the playoffs, which we want to get past this season.”
Other standout teammates include Brogan Wray, Kolton Altvater, Zade Turner and Cody Holzrichter, who should all play key roles this fall.
Away from football, Brawner enjoys spending time hunting and athletic ability runs in the family.
His sister, Avery Brawner, is a standout multi-sport athlete with SIK all-state honors in softball, basketball and volleyball.
