Halstead High School on Wednesday announced the hiring of Dalton Luce as the next head wrestling coach.
Luce has a strong background in education, athletics and student development, along with nearly a decade of high school wrestling coaching experience.
“Please join us in welcoming coach Luce to his new role,” said Halstead High School on its social media pages. “We look forward to an exciting future for Halstead High School wrestling under his leadership.
“In addition to wrestling, coach Luce has experience coaching high school football. He believes in building strong relationships, fostering a positive team culture and helping student-athletes reach their full potential.”
Luce earned his bachelor’s degree in sports management from Wichita State University before completing the transition to teaching program at Fort Hays State University.
He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in educational leadership with an emphasis in athletic administration at Pittsburg State University, further demonstrating his commitment to educational and athletic leadership.
Luce most recently taught and coached at Hutchinson High School, where he played a significant role in the growth and success of the Salthawks’ wrestling program.
During his tenure, Hutchinson consistently finished among the top 10 teams at the state wrestling tournament, including a fourth-place finish at the state tournament last winter.
Luce also was instrumental in helping establish a middle school girls wrestling program in Hutchinson, creating opportunities for young female athletes to develop and compete.
