The Chicago Bears of the National Football League signed Ellsworth High School alumnus Kaden Davis, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound wide receiver/kick returner, to a one-year deal on Tuesday.
Davis, who attended USD 327 Ellsworth/Kanopolis/Geneseo schools, played college football at Butler Community College and Northwest Missouri State University.
Davis, a former undrafted free agent in 2022, has spent time with the Denver Broncos (2022, 2024), Arizona Cardinals (2023), Detroit Lions (2024) and Cleveland Browns (2025).
Davis also played for the Michigan Panthers (United States Football League) in 2023 and played five games for the Houston Gamblers (United Football League) in 2026.
According to Wikipedia, Davis lettered at Ellsworth High School, where he played tight end, linebacker and defensive back.
As a senior, Davis caught 857 yards and 15 touchdowns and was selected to play in the 2017 Kansas Shrine All-Star Bowl, where he was Ellsworth’s first selection in 25 years.
Despite the performance, Davis did not receive a single NCAA Division I scholarship, although Kansas State offered him a walk-on spot in track.
Davis first attended Butler Community College and primarily served as a returner. He was offered a walk-on spot at Kansas State, but chose a full-ride scholarship and an immediate starting position at Northwest Missouri State, an NCAA Division II school.
As a senior at Northwest Missouri State, Davis led the team with 10 touchdowns on 703 yards receiving, helping the team to a semifinal playoff appearance and earning all-conference honors.
