The Buhler High School varsity girls celebrated Senior Night Friday at Crusader Stadium with a 4-0 shutout against Wichita Independent.
“It was a solid performance by varsity tonight,” said Buhler soccer coach Randall Rank on the team’s Facebook page. Buhler improved its record to 7-2-2.
Madi McCool scored two goals and one assist. Kennedee Applegate and Mallory Hirst each scored one goal. Taylin Krafels, Camryn White and Lakin Yoder also had assists.
Goalkeeper Josie Cummins and the Buhler defense posted a clean sheet (shutout).
Five Buhler seniors were recognized on Senior Night: No. 2 Kennedee Applegate, No. 3 Margaret Mellon, No. 13 Kenzie Polk, No. 14 Emma Moser and No. 42 Caydence Anderson.
The Buhler junior varsity girls soccer team lost to Wichita Bishop Carroll 3-0 Friday at Crusader Stadium. All three Bishop Carroll goals were scored in the first half.
“After going down 0-3 at halftime, the (Crusader JV girls) responded with a strong second half to finish 0-3,” Ranks said. “Proud of the growth we’ve seen all season — and especially tonight. Competing against teams of that caliber is where real growth happens, and they rose to the challenge.”
The Buhler varsity and JV teams host McPherson on Tuesday and play at Salina South on Thursday.
