The Buhler High School varsity girls golf team placed first with a 265 score at the Newton Invitational Tuesday at the Sand Creek Station Golf Course.
The tournament was shortened because of inclement weather including lightning. The results were calculated on the first 14 holes played.
Andover placed second with a 268 score, followed by Concordia 282, Newton 283, Derby 323, Hutchison 332, Haysville-Campus 344, Emporia 349, Salina Central 350, Salina South 355, Maize 366 and Valley Center 377.
Buhler’s Anika Pauslrud and Paityn Weber tied for fourth place with 63 scores (as did Andover’s Grier Hand).
Buhler’s Addison Specht tied for seventh place with a 65 (as did Derby’s Raelynn Dozier). Macy Miller placed 15th with a 74. Buhler’s Ellie Goering fired an 80.
Hutchinson’s top golfer was Darbie Wells with a 78, followed by Renna Ehling and Audryee Soule with 81s, Ellen Carey 92 and Tai Smith 101.
Newton’s Naomi Koontz fired a 53 to place first in the individual medalist standings. Newton’s Isabel Hawley and Concordia’s Mya Niehues tied for second with 60 scores.
Andover’s Sydney McClain and Concordia’s Presley March tied for ninth with 66 scores. Newton’s Audrey Webb placed 11th, 68; Maize South’s Ashlyn Petrocci, 12th, 69; Maize South’s Ellie Hohnbaum, 13th, 70; and Concordia’s Maddie Bowers, 14th, 73.
The Buhler varsity squad competes at the McPherson Invitational Thursday at the Turkey Creek Golf Course. The tournament starts at 1 p.m.
