The Buhler cross country teams turned in strong performances Friday at the Wamego Invitational, highlighted by a pair of individual victories. Corbin Starkweather captured the girls varsity race with a time of 19:06.88, while Ryan Cherry won the boys race in 16:50.32.
Starkweather led a strong showing for the Buhler girls, with Bella Friesen placing sixth in 20:22.54, Izzy Rivera finishing 15th in 21:14.38 and Kambria Brown taking 24th in 22:05.05. The Crusaders finished second as a team out of 16 schools.
Cherry paced the Buhler boys with his winning time, followed by Zayden Mendenhall in 41st at 18:52.24, Derek Petz in 55th at 19:15.19 and Christian Vaile in 60th at 19:34.83. Buhler finished eighth out of 23 teams in the boys team standings.
Head coach Curtis Morgan said, “We saw great progress in meet #2 and look forward to everyone getting better as we go throughout the season.”
The Crusaders will be back in action Thursday when Buhler hosts its home cross country meet.
