The Buhler High School varsity girls golf squad edged Bishop Caroll 317-319 to win the team title at the Salina South Invitational Monday at the par-70, 4,631-yard Salina Municipal Golf Course.
Newton’s Naomi Koontz blistered the course for a 5-under-par 65 to capture first-place individual medalist honors.
Buhler’s Macy Miller and Concordia’s Mya Niehues both shot 75s. Miller defeated Niehues in a playoff for second place.
Buhler’s Anika Paulsrud and Addison Specht placed sixth and seventh with 79 and 80 scores. Paityn Weber tied for 10th place with an 83. Ellie Goering placed 18th with an 89. Payton Polk tied for 45th with a 104 score.
The Hutchinson Salthawk girls golf team placed seventh with a 374 score.
Hutchinson’s top-placing golfer was Renna Ehling, who tied for 22nd with a 94 score.
Audryee Soule tied for 27th place with a 96, followed by Ellen Corey, tied for 36th, 101; and Thai Smith, 87th, 133.
The Hays High golf team placed fifth with a 370 score and Great Bend placed 16th with a 451 score.
Hays’ Kinley Pfannenstiel placed ninth with an 82, followed by Lillie Melvin, tied 25th, 95; Elsa Brungardt, tied 27th, 96; Brooklynn Kroeber, tied 30th, 97; Hailey Robben, tied 36th, 101; and Giana Schumacher, tied 43ed, 103.
Great Bend’s top-placing golfer was Sammy Fleming, tied for 36th, 101; followed by Kellee Gerhardt, tied 55th, 111; Kinsly Stukey, 78th, 119; and Noemi Valenzuela, tied 79th, 120.
Newton placed third with a 360 team score and Goddard Eisenhower placed fourth at 361, Concordia was sixth, 370; Derby, ninth, 407; Salina South, 10th, 309; Manhattan, 11th, 413; Clay Center, 12th, 418; Maize, 13th, 430; Dodge City, 14th, 448; and Haysville Campus, 15th, 449.
