The Buhler High School girls swim team placed fourth at Monday’s Newton Invitational with 161.5 points, placing fourth out of seven teams.
“In this particular Newton meet, Buhler had the girls swim different, new or events they have not swam in a couple of years,” said Buhler coach Shane DeWeese. “Overall, it was a good meet and even with the idea of not trying to win this meet, we still placed fourth overall out of seven teams.”
The Buhler medley relay A team of Hannah Swain, Evey Brooks, Avery Schrader and Reyne Kaufman took 4th with a time of 2 minutes, 12.95 seconds.
Lauren Auxier placed 13th in the 200-yard freestyle, Griffyn Showalter placed 15th and Berkley Bosley 16th.
Regan Walle placed 10th in the 200-yard individual medley and Payton Ball placed 13th.
In the 50 freestyle, Reyne Kaufman placed fourth place, Harper Kendrick 10th and Addy Tech tied for 13th.
Evey Brooks placed second and Griffyn Showalter took third in diving.
Hannah Swain placed fourth in the 100 butterfly, with Hannah Whitney placing 10th.
Hannah Swain placed fourth in the 100 freestyle, Avery Schrader eighth and Addy Tech 16th.
In the 500 free, Evey Brooks took eighth, Abby Ehret ninth and Hannah Whitney 10th.
The 200 free A relay of Hannah Swain, Avery Schrader, Reyne Kaufman and Harper Kendrick took fourth place with a state consideration time of 1:57.7.
In the 100 backstroke, Regan Walle earned seventh, Lauren Auxier 14th and Payton Thompson 15th.
Avery Schrader led the team in the breaststroke, earning ninth place. Reyne Kaufman earned 13th and Addie Maxfield took 17th.
The 400 freestyle relay team of Regan Walle, Evey Brooks, Addy Tech and Abby Ehret placed fourth.
Buhler hosts the Buhler Invitational next Tuesday at the Hutchinson YMCA pool. The meet starts at 4 p.m.
In addition to Buhler and Hutchinson, other schools competing are Andover Central, Circle, Classical School Of Wichita, Great Bend, Holcomb, Hutchinson, Maize, Maize South, McPherson and Rose Hill.
