The Buhler High School varsity soccer team played Towanda-Circle, the highest scoring team in the state in all classes, to a 1-1 draw Monday night at Crusader Stadium.

Buhler has a 6-2-2 record. Circle is 10-1-1.

Madi McCool scored the Buhler varsity squad’s goal.

“Tough result tonight as we finished in a 1-1 draw against Circle,” said Buhler soccer coach Randall Rank. “It’s disappointing because we had our chances and created multiple opportunities, but a few things just didn’t go our way. The good news is that adversity builds toughness, and this team will be stronger because of it.”

The Buhler junior varsity squad defeated the Thunderbirds 2-0. KaAliyah Williams and Payton Polk scored the goals for the Buhler JV on assists from Bella Morones and Grace Berkley.

“The JV came away with a dominant win,” Rank said. “A shoutout to Josie Cummins and the defense for earning the clean sheet. A big thank you to our Crusaders FC ball girls and ball boys tonight.”

The Buhler varsity and JV teams will host Wichita Independent Friday night for Senior Night.

“Come out and support these girls,” Rank said.
