Buhler Girls Soccer Team Advances to Class 4-1A West Regional 4 Final

The Buhler High School girls soccer team opened Kansas Class 4-1A West regional play with an 8-0 clean sheet (shutout) against Wichita Collegiate Monday at Crusader Stadium.

It was the second straight shutout over Wichita Collegiate and third consecutive clean sheet victory for the Crusaders defense and goal keeper Josie Cummins.

Buhler finished its regular-season schedule with a 6-0 shutout over Wichita Collegiate last Friday at Crusader Stadium.

Buhler’s Camryn White scored a hat trick. Lakin Yoder scored two goals and had 4 assists. Taylin Krafels scored 2 goals. Zoey Dick scored 1 goal and had 3 assists. Kennedee Applegate added 1 assist.

“The girls took care of business in the first round of regionals with an 8-0 win over Wichita Collegiate — 10 minutes into the second half,” said Buhler soccer coach Randall Rank.

The Crusaders, the No. 5 seed in the Kansas Class 4-1A West Regional 4, improved to 11-4-2. No. 12-seed Wichita Collegiate finished the season with a 2-15 record. The game time was moved up 2 1/2 hours because of weather concerns.

Buhler will play at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Rose Hill. The Rockets (12-5) defeated Winfield 8-0 in a West Region 4 first-round game Monday at Rose Hill. Winfield finished the season with a 1-16 record.
