Buhler dominated Maize South with a balanced offense and relentless defense. The Crusaders totaled 361 yards while limiting Maize South to 158. Quarterback Asher Zachary completed 6-of-8 passes for 148 yards and two touchdowns. Landen Martinez rushed 11 times for 108 yards and a score, while Asher McConnaughy added 71 yards and a touchdown on eight carries. Garrett Gleason led Buhler with four receptions for 112 yards.
Defensively, Buhler controlled the line of scrimmage, collecting eight sacks and allowing only one late touchdown after the outcome was essentially decided. The victory highlighted Buhler’s strength on both the offensive and defensive lines.
The Crusaders now turn their attention to next week’s home opener against Mulvane.
