Ad Astra Radio is proud to announce Hutchinson High School senior Lamar Govain, as this week’s Athlete of the Week, presented by Hutchinson Community College.
The week – Govain had a sensational week at the annual McPherson Invitational in January. In a first-round upset over the top seed Topeka Seaman, Govain scored 21 points in a 53-51 win. In a semifinal loss to Derby, Govain again shined with 14 points. In the third-place game, a 44-29 loss to Blue Valley, Govan scored 15 points and blocked five shots.
The season – Govain had a remarkable junior season for the Salthawks. He averaged 19.3 points per game, and also averaged 6.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 2 steals and 1 blocked shot per game. He was named second-team all-AVCTL Division 1 and second team all-area from Ad Astra Radio.
