Andale, Berean Academy, Cheney, Halstead, Hillsboro and Hutchinson Middle School runners competed in the Clearwater High School Invitational Thursday morning.
The meet took place in the morning because of heat-related reasons.
The Andale varsity boys team placed six runners in the top 12 in the 5,000-meter (5K) competition and eight in the top 40, led by Dustin Buchanan, Cade Brown and Roman Lubbers, who placed second, third and fourth with times of 17 minutes, 31.48 seconds, 17:32.69 and 17:39.54.
Sam Pavelski, Levi Schmidt and William Parks placed sixth, ninth and 12th (18:03, 18:39.42 and 19:09.49).
Rhett Romero and Ethan Simon finished 40th and 43rd (21:01.21) and 21:06.21).
Andale’s Ayvah Banda placed third in the girls 5,000-meter race (22:17.53).
Hudson Snell was Andale’s top JV 2-mile boys runner, placing fifth (12:04.36). Carlin Seiler was Andale’s top girls 2-miler (15:11.95).
Berean Academy’s Will Snook and Colton Buesnitz placed first and fourth in the boys 2-mile (10:55.02 and 11:51.76).
Addie Busenitz, Ivy Busenitz, Aubrianne Briscoe and Eliza Briscoe placed fifth, sixth, seventh and 10th in the JV girls 2-mile (14:02.63, 14:03.34, 14:18.19 and 14:50.15).
Cheney’s top 5K boys runner was Grayson Miller, who placed 23rd (20:04.41). Staley Ahlberg placed 23rd in the boys 2-mile run (12:12.35).
Cheney’s Paisley Marsh, Abigail Blundell and Kortney Berry placed sixth, eighth and 16th in the varsity girls 5K (22:45.77, 22:54.7 and 24:23.37). Addison Hudson placed eighth in the girs 2-mile (14:25.1).
Halstead’s Briley Almon placed 10th in the varsity girls 5K (23:30.99). Johnathan Haspels placed seventh inn the boys 2-mile (12:11.76).
Hillsboro’s top finisher was middle schooler Jeremiah Holmes, who placed 16th in the boys 2-mile (14:10.27).
Hutchinson Middle School’s Madison Teater placed fourth in the girls 2-mile run (14:33.49).
Kingman’s top finisher was Georgia Huse, who placed 14th in the girls 2-mile run (15:03.46).
