Andale/Garden Plain Baseball Sweeps El Dorado, Finishing the Week with 3-1 Record

EL DORADO, Kan. — For the third time this season, the Andale/Garden Plain baseball team swept a doubleheader. 

Andale/Garden Plain finished the week with a 3-1 record with a sweep over El Dorado, 7-4 and 11-1 in six innings on Thursday at McDonald Stadium. 

Game 1: Andale/Garden Plain 7, El Dorado 4

The Wildcats struck first in the bottom of the second inning before Andale/Garden Plain scored four in the fourth. Nolan Pfannenstiel’s 2-run single gave Andale/Garden Plain the lead, which was followed by Caden Fowler scoring on a wild pitch and Pfannenstiel scoring on a balk. El Dorado cut the deficit in half to 4-2 heading to the fifth. In the seventh, Andale/Garden Plain tacked on three, an RBI triple from Austin Bugner and a 2-run double by Pfannenstiel. El Dorado scored two more in the seventh, but Noah Stanley closed the door by picking up his fourth save of the season. Pfannenstiel went 2-for-3 at the plate with three RBIs. Jamey Joplin went six innings, allowing four runs on seven hits and striking out five. 

Game 2: Andale/Garden Plain 11, El Dorado 1 / 6 innings 

The offense carried over into the nightcap for the visitors, erupting for four runs in the top of the first. Stanley drove in Bugner on a single after Bugner led the game off with a double. Easton Linnens had an RBI single and then scored on an error. Pfannenstiel’s sacrifice fly capped off the inning that saw all nine players in the batting order record an at-bat. El Dorado got its lone run of the game with a solo home run by Grady Scanlon. In the second, Andale/Garden Plain pushed the lead back to four on an RBI single by Linnens. In the third, Pfannenstiel drove in his second on a fielder’s choice, which was followed by an RBI single by Greyson Winter and capped off by a 3-run home run by Jared Flax. Linnens drove in his third in the sixth on a groundout. Cruz Kaiser got the win on the mound, going five innings giving up one run on three hits and striking out six. Flax went 2-for-3 with a home run, a triple and three RBIs.
