KANSAS – Union Pacific’s legendary Big Boy No. 4014, the largest operating steam locomotive in the world, is travelling Coast to Coast this summer.
This historic coast-to-coast journey marks a first for the engine and serves to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States. The tour began with a Fourth of July event in Philadelphia, and continues with major displays across eight cities.
The train is now approaching Kansas’s eastern border, and will arrive in Salina at the Old Depot on Thursday at 6:00pm. The locomotive will remain in Salina overnight before departing at 9:00 am on Friday. It will make a 30 minute stop in Wilson at the Avenue E crossing at 11:00 on Friday, and end the day in Hays at 1:30. To track the Big Boy No. 4014 and catch the locomotive in motion, visit up.com
