During last weekend’s Commencement at Central Christian College of Kansas, Tom and Kathy Brown of McPherson were inducted in the college’s Academe of Achievers, which honors individuals whose lives reflect extraordinary leadership, service and faith.

Tom Brown served in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, where he was injured in action. He later embarked on a successful career in the insurance industry, later as a consultant, and in January concluded more than 16 years of service at McPherson’s Mayor.

Kathy Brown made her impact as a speech therapist and dedicated volunteer. Together, their legacy continues across generations of children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Their daughter Tina is a CCCK graduate.

The college said in a statement their influence reaches far beyond titles and accomplishments – It is found in the people they have served, the community they have strengthened, and the the example they continue to set.
