Multiple firefighters responded late this morning to an apartment fire in midtown Iola.
Fire units were called to a three-story apartment house at 302 East Street, around 10:45 AM.
Iola Radio’s Gene Myrick said witnesses reported hearing a loud pop before the fire began. There were eight units in the building, and all occupants got out safely.
Fire units from the Iola Fire Department and Allen County Rural fire responded, along with mutual aid from the Chanute Fire Department which also battled a blaze this morning on 11th Street between Highland and Santa Fe.
