ALLEN COUNTY, Kan. — A 66-year-old Iola woman was killed in a head-on collision Friday morning on U.S. Highway 169 south of Iola.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 8:30 a.m. near mile marker 62.9 when a northbound pickup truck driven by a 15-year-old boy from Beloit crossed the center line and struck a passenger car head-on.
The driver of the passenger car, Sherry Lynn McDown, 66, of Iola, died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The teenage pickup driver was transported to a hospital with serious injuries, according to the KHP crash report.
